8 Weeks of Giving: Spread Holiday Cheer

It’s our final week of 8 Weeks of Giving 2021! This was our second year in a row to do this series. It’s been fulfilling as a team to take a little time each week to do small acts of kindness that can spread more positivity in the world, especially during the holidays.

This year, we dedicated our series to acts that support mental health (whether directly or indirectly). We’ve enjoyed volunteering at the Salvation Army, walking an 8K to raise money for the Mental Health Association of Frederick County, being surprised as a team with baked goods, and more!

To close out the series, we wanted to do something thoughtful for the elderly to let them know that they’re remembered and cared for during the holiday season.

I was in charge of this activity, and so I called up the Somerford Assisted Living Facility in Frederick, and asked if we could send holiday cards to their residents. Due to privacy issues, we couldn’t get the names of the residents, but we signed them all so each card was personalized from us.

We wrote out 77 holiday cards! Here I am with the giant stack of cards on my desk…

We hope that our cards brought them a little joy this holiday season and let them know that they’re cared about.

One thing we experienced through this series is that we each have the power to make a positive impact on the world, even through small acts we might otherwise dismiss. The positive impact goes both ways as we get to experience the joy of giving. Thank you for joining us for this series.

We’re wishing you and your loved ones very Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year!

‘Til 2022,
