Managing Partner, PPR Global

Bob Sweeney

As an executive strategic advisor aligned with PPR Global, Bob works at the intersection of public relations, government affairs, and executive decision-making, helping organizations manage risk, shape narrative, and advance high-stakes initiatives in politically and community-sensitive environments.

Robert (Bob) Sweeney is a successful businessman, entrepreneur, educational leader, and nonprofit executive. Over the course of his career, he has built organizations from the ground up, led investor groups in the purchase and disposition of real estate as well as athletic events, and thrived in the business arena in the Greater Washington area.

In November 2022, Sweeney took the helm of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce. He led the public process to make Prince William County the epicenter of Data Center development in the United States, with 31 existing Data Centers, 40 more approved in December 2023, and 40 more in the pipeline. He was a key member representing the business community on the Data Center Ordinance Advisory Group and helped develop sensible ordinances for Prince William County in the areas of noise, buffers, zoning, and power.

In 2015, Sweeney joined the American University Kogod School of Business team to lead the effort to position Kogod as the world’s leading business school focused on the study of the Greater Washington economy. Sweeney was the Founder and President of DC2024, the regional group assembled to bring the Olympics to Washington DC in 2024. DC2024 made significant strides in bringing the Greater Washington region together to rally around a common goal: to host the world in 2024.

Sweeney is most widely known as the first-ever President & CEO of the Greater Washington Sports Alliance, where he began in 2003. He built a prominent board of directors, developed the Alliance mission, created the Sports Collaborative (A separate Foundation) to nurture and grow fledgling youth investment organizations in the sports arena, and molded the Sports Alliance to be a critical organization in Washington’s business community.

Before heading the Greater Washington Sports Alliance, Bob was the Vice President of DC Agenda, Vice President of the Greater Washington Initiative, the economic development arm of the Greater Washington Board of Trade, and Director of Business Development Office of Economic Development for Arlington, Virginia. In 2020, Bob Sweeney was tapped to organize the collaboration between Maryland, Virginia, and DC for the Amazon HQ2 attraction effort on behalf of the region in service to the two Governors and the Mayor.
