Coming At You From the Mile High City

Do you ever feel like you’re a part of a community from the moment you step into a room? Economic Development events can be that way for me.

I LOVE being around my people. 🥰

Despite the chill of over-cooled conference rooms, econ dev people give me a warm fuzzy every time we get together.

This week, I’m at the IEDC 2024 Annual Conference in Denver and am having a blast! I’ve gotten to meet some new faces and celebrate the wins of some familiar friends.

Hanging with our friends from Charles County Economic Development, Michelle and Kelly!

Many of our clients are here to receive IEDC Excellence Awards, and yes, at the awards ceremony, you did hear me shouting the loudest for their accomplishments from the back of the room…but I’m also going to do it here in PPR’s blog! 😉

Congratulations to Charles County Economic Development Department on their Silver Award for Innovation in Economic Development Week, which PPR helped support their award-winning Business Appreciation Week and award application, and to Goochland County Economic Development and Tourism for their three awards (two of which PPR Strategies played a role in). It is truly wonderful to see your clients and friends succeed!

And, shoutout to the PPR team for helping our clients achieve these stellar accomplishments!

Culpeper in the house!

Also, I’d like to give a hearty “hooray” to our clients, Frederick County Office of Economic Development, for their Gold Award on the Life Sciences Profile (designed by our office-mates at Octavo Designs), and Howard County Economic Development Authority for their Silver Award for the Economic Edge newsletter. I’d also like to shout-out Culpeper County Economic Development for their Bronze and Gold Awards, plus a Best in Show nomination—one of only twelve out of over 500 submissions to receive this honor!

Huge congratulations to our friends at the Baltimore Development Corporation for taking home the most Gold awards this year—more than any other nominated organization. Well done! Autonomous Municipality of Caguas, where I went to volunteer as a part of the IEDC Technical Assistance Program years ago, was also recognized as a Gold winner for their ¡Caguas Seguro Que Sí! multimedia production!

You are all AWESOME!

Congrats to our friends at the Baltimore Development Corporation!

Not at IEDC? There is still time to connect in person with the econ dev community at the 2024 Main Street Conference, hosted by the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) and the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).

P.S. PPR’s new podcast, EDO Breakthrough, just released our trailer! Give it a listen and visit our website to email or send us a voice message with your burning EDO-related questions. You could be featured in an upcoming episode!
