Welcome back to our 8 Weeks of Joy series!
For the 8 weeks leading up to the new year, we’re highlighting different team members who will be sharing something they’re doing that brings them joy or spreads joy to others!
Last week, Sophie shared her joy of treating co-workers to homemade hot cocoa.
Today, our Public Relations Specialist, Mia, is sharing what brings her joy.
Here’s Mia…
There’s no better way to get in the holiday spirit than to do some holiday shopping!
Thanksgiving is this week, which also means that Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, and Giving Tuesday will all follow suit. Although these days are associated with sales to get people out and about in stores, they are also a wonderful time to practice conscious spending and support the small businesses that are the backbone of our economy.
While shopping gives me joy all year round, there’s something special about showing appreciation to local small businesses. One of the best times to shop small is in the weeks leading up to the holidays because not only are we supporting local businesses, but it also gives us a chance to give gifts that contain a story. Shopping small allows us to make those personal touches on a gift and give our loved ones something irreplaceable.
The weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas are filled with local craft and vendor fairs, which are one of my favorite ways to “shop small” because there are a variety of vendors with all different wares to offer.
Shopping small with family and friends, and spending an entire day at these large fairs, has (and continues to) leave me with memories that will forever come to mind as I prepare for the Holidays. Collectively, it is one of our most looked forward to activities leading up to the Holidays themselves!
Each year I try to support the businesses I believe in, shopping small to purchase Holiday gifts in hopes that the recipients of these gifts will fall in love with their gift (and local business) as much as I do!
We’d love to hear what your favorite ways are to “shop small” as the holidays approach. Send us a message to share!
