New Years Resolutions for Business Success

It’s already almost a month into the New Year. With the New Year comes a new list of resolutions. More often than not, personal resolutions are forgotten after the first week of January. We hope, however, that you will remember some of these business resolutions well into the New Year.

Take off the cape

You’re not superman. You can’t do everything. Take off the cape and learn to delegate your work, even if it means bringing on a new intern or hiring a new employee.

Answer emails

We hope that you will not only answer all incoming emails, but also respond to them in an appropriate and timely fashion. Your employees, colleagues, clients and customers will appreciate it. Consider implementing an email management or filing system.

Goals are good

Begin the New Year with a clean slate. Take a step back and evaluate where you’re going.

1. Set goals and evaluate. Are they realistic and obtainable? Are they specific? Measureable?

2. Is your communications plan up to date? This is the best time to ensure that your communications plan is up to date and completely flushed out for the New Year.

3. Budget. Start the New Year with a clear head. Know what is in your budget, and what isn’t.

The New Year is a great time to reevaluate all of these kinds of things to make sure there are no hidden time and costs being spent unnecessarily.

The New Year is the perfect time to evaluate and assess the goals of your company or organization.

Let’s get physical

Social media has made it possible to have to 3,756 friends without ever actually stepping out of your home or office. In 2013, lets make an effort to have more face-to-face contact. Instead of a conference call, see if you and your clients can meet face to face.  The New Year is the perfect time to set a few obtainable networking goals, such as having coffee or lunch with one client a week.

Join associations or organizations in your area of expertise. Join a local group of professionals. Go out there, meet some new people, make new friends, and gain some new leads. It can only lead to good things.

Put a smile on

This one is simple but powerful. Make an effort to smile more. It releases endorphins and puts you and everyone around you in their happy place.

We hope 2013 will be a prosperous new year for all!
