Brunswick Music Fest Announces Lineup
The best original and traditional blues, bluegrass, and mountain music continues
Brunswick, MD- Today the Brunswick Music Fest announces the performers to take the stage for the 2011 series. This summer, bluegrass, blues and old-time music enthusiasts of all ages can enjoy the Woodshedders, Kelly Bell Band, Donna Ulisse and the Poor Mountain Boys, Beaucoup Blue, and Fitzmaurice Band on June 18, 2011 at the Brunswick Music Fest on Railroad Square in downtown Brunswick.
The Woodshedders are known as the original spark on the American soundscape. This talented band’s album Catch That Yardbird debuted on the SoundStage! Network’s “Top 10 Albums of 2009.” The Woodshedders perform at the Music Fest from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm.
One of the most eclectic bands around, Kelly Bell Band (KBB), formed as a back up band for Bo Diddley. KBB uses the sounds of reggae and rock with Muddy Waters style to keep their fans on the edge of their seats. In 2008 the band released Live from Dr. Unk’s (DVD), That’s What’s Up and I’m Just Sayin’ CDs. Look for KBB before their performance from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm during Music Fest, or after the show to sign CDs.
Bluegrass singer/songwriter and poet, Donna Ulisse, was born in Hampton, VA surrounded by a musical family. Recently Ulisse had songs recorded by Claire Lynch, Darin & Brooke Aldridge and she had the title cut to Louise Mosrie’s Home, which was the #1 Folk album in the nation in January 2010. The Music Fest audience will hear Donna and her band The Poor Mountain Boys from 2:15 pm to 3:45 pm the day of the Music Fest.
Beaucoup Blue Band, a Philadelphia based quartet, takes pride in bridging many gaps in American music. The band’s soulful, traditional and contemporary styles mesh into an innovative and authentic sound. Beaucoup Blue released two albums: Out Of The Woodwork, 2003, and Hearts At Home in 2005. The long awaited third album, Free To Fall, is produced by Grammy nominated Jim Salamone. Beaucoup Blue Band will perform from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at the Music Fest.
The fifth performer and highlight of the evening is a young talented quintet led by identical twin sisters, Maria and Sarah Fitzmaurice. Embracing a crossover sound between progressive bluegrass and alternative country, Fitzmaurice Band captured the attention of people on both sides of the tracks. Their bluegrass sound is one of the most progressive in the young music scene today. Fitzmaurice Band performs 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
The event is organized by Brunswick Main Street with the mission of revitalizing downtown Brunswick and is supported by the City of Brunswick. “We are thrilled to be hosting this event again this year. After a successful inaugural event, we’ve planned another amazing lineup here in Brunswick,” Hanna Politis, Brunswick Music Fest Chairperson.
The gates open the day of the festival at 11 a.m. Tickets range from $15 for adults advanced sales to $20 for adult tickets at the gate. Student and seniors’ tickets are $10 while children five and under get in for FREE!
Brunswick Music Fest ticket holders are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. A wine and beer garden and specially selected food vendors will provide sustenance. Downtown Brunswick eateries offer food and refreshments during the Music Fest. Retail merchants and the Railroad Museum also welcome visitors. No pets and outside alcohol will be allowed inside the gate.
