My Surprising Media Hit in the Washington Post

Recently I got an email from a colleague who asked me if I had attended the Preakness, and “if not, then you have a doppelganger out there in the world!” She sent me a photograph that was in the Washington Post, and well… it WAS me!

I had the privilege of attending this event as a “Plus 1” at the Maryland Department of Commerce tent. It was the 142nd race, my first time attending, and it was amazing. It was an awesome experience to attend an iconic event like this.

Saying “yes” to my invitation allowed me to have this experience that I could truly cross off my bucket list!

It got me thinking about bucket lists and the things we might love to do, but haven’t positioned ourselves to do or experience. It’s so important to put ourselves in situations that we can experience something fun and different and unique.

At the end of the event, I had a great day. I was able to go and be there with a client, the Maryland Economic Development Association. I had an amazing time representing my client and my business, saw some colleagues, met some really interesting fellow business owners in the region and ultimately — had a great time.

Seeing this photograph in the Washington Post really highlights the fact that some events never die, and with the Internet, you just never know where something is going to resurface.

As a side note, I got a huge kick out of the fact that I was captioned as “woman laughing.” If I could be remembered for any number of things, “woman laughing” is probably right there up at the top of the list, so that was pretty amazing that a Washington Post photographer was able to capture me in that moment and then caption me in that same manner.
