Can’t Stop Pinning: Is Pinterest the New Social Media Addiction Your Company Needs?

Is your business a visual place? Do you have photos of products or a great image accompanying a blog post on your site? If so, you may want to consider creating a company Pinterest account. Pinterest is the fastest growing social media site and they have only been up and running for a year. According to a HubSpot infographic about Pinterest, people spend more time on the site than they do Facebook and Twitter combined.

 

The majority of Pinterest users are ages 25-34 making up about 30%. The 35-44 crowd makes up about 25% and ages 18-24 make up 17%. Other ages ranges are 45-54 at 10%, 55-64 at 5%, 0-17 making up another 5%, and 65 and over at 2%. 80% of all users are women, with 20% being men. Needless to say, people of all ages, but mainly the 20s, 30s, and 40s crowd use Pinterest.

Half of Pinterest users have children and 28.1% of its users have a $100,000+ annual household income.

Big brands have Pinterest and use it to drive traffic to their websites. Companies like Nordstrom, Whole Foods, and ModCloth all have thousands of followers.

 

All in all, with an average of 1.36 million visitors a day, Pinterest is definitely something for all businesses to consider joining.
