As a longtime business owner, I know my strengths and weaknesses and I acknowledge them openly. While admitting what I don’t know is a start, it’s really just that. When confronted with a gap in my skill sets, I turn to my team and to leaders I admire (including those I connected with at the IEDC Leadership Summit last week), collaborating to achieve a better outcome.
As the first four episodes of EDO Breakthrough’s season two reveal, whether we’re bettering Main Streets or rural communities, leveraging AI or social media, collaboration makes extraordinary outcomes possible. When we rely on the brain trust of colleagues, subject matter experts, officials, and volunteers, our places truly benefit.
Episode 11: All Hands On Deck is the Call to Action
In our season kickoff, entrepreneurship expert, consultant, and podcaster Jonathan Aberman, who is also founder and managing director of Amplifier Advisors, discusses how the artificial intelligence (AI) industry must be leveraged in the DC region before it’s too late. The time to bring AI innovators to the area is now, based on anticipated regulation changes and the technology’s ability to help people work more efficiently. However industry attraction can’t happen in isolation; it must be a robust regional effort that prioritizes partnerships, offers unbeatable incentives, and positions DC as an innovation leader. Episode 12: Same Approach, Different Communities
As the adage goes, if you’ve visited one Main Street, you’ve visited one Main Street (or something like that)! Main Street America, which represents 1,200 communities across the nation, reimagines downtowns and historic districts with proven strategies that are adaptable anywhere. As Main Street America’s Joi Cuartero Austin, CEcD explains, building capacity, training volunteers, or developing a responsive business ecosystem relies on collaboration and your team’s ability to create realistic short-term goals. Tune in below for more.
Episode 13: From Roadblock to Roadmap
My time with thought leader Alex Dadok emphasized that partnerships help us tackle tough problems in any economic ecosystem. A humanitarian at heart and a strategist in practice, Dadok helps rural communities become a “more loved home” for entrepreneurs, residents, and businesses. The key, he maintains, is learning through different lenses to become more effective. Learn how Alex helps communities turn obstacles into opportunities below.
Episode 14: Maximizing Social Media
In our latest episode, PPR Strategies’ own social media coordinator Kayla Sherry talks about all things social media. Kayla, whose fresh approach to social media creates smiles and kickstarts engagement, offers a primer on social media strategy, giving EDOs concrete advice on where to start or broaden engagement. Equally on theme, Kayla discusses how influencer/creator partnerships can benefit EDOs. Listen in.
