Welcome to 8 Weeks of Appreciation!

It’s become a tradition at PPR Strategies—Places Reimagined to dedicate the 8 weeks leading up to the New Year to acts of kindness or service to our community. It’s our way of spreading more cheer, positivity, and goodwill in the world!

Every week for 8 weeks, a team member from PPR Strategies will be writing a blog to share about the act of appreciation they did. This week, PPR Strategies Communications Specialist Nisha Stephens kicks off our series by sharing about the Day of Action we took part in. Here’s Nisha…

This year’s Day of Action, organized by United Way of Frederick, was held on October 7 at the Frederick Keys Stadium. This event brings individuals and organizations together to give back to the Frederick County community.

The day started with a brief orientation and training before we each headed to our assigned project locations. Volunteers made a tangible impact on the issues that matter most to their community by participating in various tasks, including collecting donations for local families and students across Frederick, preparing food, construction work, and more.

Along with Sophie (PPR Director of Operations) and Celine (our marketing intern), I had the opportunity to work with the Frederick County Board of Elections team. Together, we helped new registrants fill out Maryland’s voter registration application. Helping Frederick residents register to vote will ensure that even more citizens can have their voices heard in upcoming elections!

Participating in the Day of Action with United Way was a great experience. As a first-time volunteer, I was unsure what to expect, but the organization made everything easy and enjoyable. Participating in this event reinforced my belief in the power of teamwork and volunteerism, and I hope to be able to participate again next year.

We believe it’s essential to recognize our community and local organizations, and we’re excited to give back and show our gratitude during our 8 Weeks of Appreciation series.

We can’t wait to see how far a little appreciation can go.

Send us a message and share your favorite volunteer activity with us!
