WV Book Faire Invites All to Enjoy the World of Books

The Panhandle celebrates reading in the mountain state

Martinsburg, West Virginia:  Celebrate the love of reading and writing at the fifth annual WV Book Faire on April 16, 2011.  Activities will be held from 10 am to 3 pm at the Martinsburg Mall, located on Foxcroft Avenue just off Interstate 81   “This year, we will have activities that our patrons have come to know and enjoy, such as book signings and children’s programs,” said Pamela Coyle, Director of the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Public Libraries.  “Along with Blue Ridge Community and Technical College, we’ll also be hosting the very popular Edible Books Contest.”

Activities will include a children’s program with Janet Stoeke, author and illustrator of the Minerva Louise series; an Edgar Allen Poe reenactment; a coal mining discussion with David Selby and Davitt McAteer; an appearance by author Jack Bass and a presentation from cookbook author Nathalie Dupree.  The Edible Books Contest entries will also be displayed during the WV Book Faire, with the awards being presented in the early afternoon.  Daytime activities are free of charge and will take place around the gazebo near Bon Ton. 

The evening will feature the Authors Dinner, with special guests Eleanor Clift and Mort Kondracke, both national journalists and authors.  The reception will begin at 6 pm, followed by dinner and a discussion about the current political climate with Ms. Clift and Mr. Kondracke.  The dinner will be held in the area across from Hallmark and tickets are $30 or a table of eight for $200.

Queen Street in downtown Martinsburg.  The WV Book Faire is sponsored by the Martinsburg-Berkeley County CVB; Blue Ridge Community and Technical College; Martinsburg-Berkeley County Public Library; The Journal;  City National Bank; Martin & Seibert, L.C.; and Mountain State University.
