My resolution for the new year? Sending notes!

One of my resolutions for the new year is to nurture more connections.

This can be business connections or personal relationships.

A key way to do this – especially in business – is through immediate follow-up.

Ever been to an event or conference where you met a lot of new people, reconnected with past colleagues, and traded business cards – promising each other you’ll be in touch?

Often what happens is that neither person follows through.

I can be guilty of this. After an event, I’ll often move right on to the next project before doing proper follow-up from the event.

This year, I want to change that!

My goal is to write more follow-up notes or to connect via LinkedIn after meetings or events.

If you struggle to make yourself do this too, here’s a simple script:

It was great to see you at the X event. Loved hearing about the projects you’re working on! Here’s a link to that article I told you about – hope you find it useful as I did!

Look forward to staying in touch.

Your follow-up note doesn’t need to be extensive, and you don’t need to set up a coffee date to make the outreach worthwhile. Think of it as adding value. If you discussed a topic of interest, is there a resource you can send them explaining more? Or is there an upcoming event to invite them to? Or maybe, it’s simply expressing appreciation for the insights you received from your conversation.

What can you pop in their inbox that will be a pleasant surprise for them?

By taking a few minutes to do this outreach, you can create a powerful connection that could even become an ongoing supportive relationship.

So my call to action to you is this:

Leave a comment bellow if you’d like me to send you a note. I’d love to kick off the new year by nurturing our connection!

‘Til next time,
