I’ve been a dedicated podcast listener for years, and the idea to start a podcast was simmering in my head for a while…
And so, when we moved into our new office space in Frederick in August of 2020, I was inspired to turn an empty conference room into our very own professional podcast studio!
We transformed the room by installing acoustic panels and adding sound buffers, recording software, podcasting equipment, and a professional mic to the space.
I got to experience the joy and satisfaction of recording podcast episodes in the studio last year as we recorded 13 episodes of The Frederick Factor! What was once just an idea became a reality, and now we’re in pre-production of Season 2.
Creating the first season of our podcast was a huge learning experience for me and the team. I’m proud of us for not letting the fear of the unknown hold us back.
The process of creating a podcast is multi-layered: there’s the strategy behind it and how it aligns with your overall goals, the process of booking and interviewing guests, recording and editing, branding, promoting and more. With all of these elements, creating a podcast is definitely a collaborative experience.
I’m curious… have you ever considered creating a podcast? A podcast can be a great addition to your overall content plan and overall strategic plan to support existing businesses. A podcast can also be a way of sharing the tools and resources of existing partners more widely and of articulating the assets of your community from an attraction perspective – whether you’re attracting businesses, talent or visitors.
If there’s an idea for a podcast simmering in your head, I encourage you to not let the fear of the unknown hold you back either.
You never know what you’ll learn along the way or what kind of opportunities and new connections could open up as a result.
Recording a podcast requires resources (both time and financial resources), so it’s important to know how it supports your overall mission or strategic plan for your organization.
If you’d like to explore starting a podcast, we can help you come up with a strategy so that it’s a part of your larger communications goals. You can also skip the stress of figuring out how to record a podcast by renting our in-house professional studio.
