We’ve written some newsletters on diversity & inclusion, and PRIDE Month is a beautiful opportunity to talk with some of our friends in the LGBTQIA+ community, hear their unique perspectives, and celebrate them.

Season 1 Episode 7: The Always Learning Factor With Em Perper
In this episode, Em shares their journey as a transgender nonbinary person and some of the experiences they’ve had helping to educate people about the LGBTQIA+ community. This includes both formal workshops as well as daily experiences working in downtown Frederick. For five years, they served on the board of directors of The Frederick Center, which supports and advocates for Frederick’s LGBTQIA+ community. Em also previously worked at the Curious Iguana, downtown Frederick’s independent bookstore.
Season 2 Episode 5: The Solution Factor with Peter Brehm
In this episode, Peter Brehm, a founding member and the current treasurer of the Frederick Center, shares what the Frederick Center is doing to support the LGBTQIA+ community and to create awareness and education for the Frederick community. Many challenging questions are tackled in this episode as Peter shares insight about the challenges the LGBTQIA+ community faces, the progressive steps that are being taken to create greater inclusion, and how people can be better allies and a part of the solution.
