“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
– Albert Einstein
Organizations will sometimes bring me in as an outside marketing consultant to offer fresh ideas and strategies.
But I find that often, people are reluctant to try something new.
They bring an outside expert in because they desire new results. However, when different or new strategies are suggested, they hesitate and don’t always take action on them.
They may have been doing the same marketing tactics for many years, and so they’re afraid to try something new.
But if you never push the envelope, you’re going to get the same results you’ve always gotten.
Now, this doesn’t mean you should just throw caution to the wind.
It’s important to be strategic and thoughtful with your marketing. Before taking any action, first get really clear on what your goals are, and what you’re looking to accomplish.
And then, be open to a new strategy that has a proven track record in the marketplace of achieving those goals… even if your organization has never tried it before.
The key is: don’t get stuck in the planning and waiting phase. At a certain point, you just have to go for it and take the leap! You have to put the Facebook ads out there, implement the lead magnet on your website, or set the date for that small event or conference.
Once you put the plan into action, then you can track your results to see what’s working, and what needs to be course-corrected.
