“This is an ideal way for the children and community to come together as a whole and see all the effort they put into dance. And it’s really become a fun holiday tradition to look forward to here at Shepherdstown School of Dance,” said Mercedes Prohaska, managing director.
Working with the Shepherdstown School of Dance this year is national performer, Michael Keating. Michael, a New Jersey native, studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet and the Boston Ballet’s ballet school, and assisted at the Montgomery Ballet in Montgomery, AL. The ensemble took storybook ballets, such as Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, to grade schools in the Philadelphia area and taught the children about the art of dance and ballet.
He last performed with the Sarasota Ballet of Florida. While there he danced the role of the Cavalier in their production of the Nutcracker.
